Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior R&D Software Engineer to develop advanced VLSI Physical Design Algorithms. The role involves inventing new optimization engines and improving existing algorithms to enhance chip performance while minimizing power consumption. The team operates with high intellectual freedom, focusing on cutting-edge processes and designs without the constraints of legacy systems. Candidates should be passionate about contributing to the development of industry-leading hardware and software solutions.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, PhD or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 6+ years in VLSI algorithms development using C++
  • Strong understanding of VLSI timing optimization and related concepts
  • Familiarity with design implementation tools such as ICC2, Innovus, PrimeTime, Tempus, and StarRC
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Invent new optimization engines that increase chip frequency while minimizing power consumption.
  • Improve algorithms in C++ for gate-level sizing, buffering, and power minimization.
  • Own the entire process from discovery of optimization opportunities to deployment within design teams.
  • Collaborate with design teams to facilitate the implementation of developed solutions.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
