JobsMechanical Architecture â FEA
Job description
The Mechanical Architecture Engineer at Apple will focus on developing predictive mechanical models for next-generation sensing solutions. This role combines first-principles engineering with analytical modeling and finite element analysis to guide product architecture from concept to mass production. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to influence design decisions and optimize product performance. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical behavior and advanced sensing technologies.
Requirements
- BS degree and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
- Strong knowledge of solid mechanics, dynamics, vibrations, materials, and heat transfer
- Experience with analytical modeling, finite element analysis, and experimental validation
- Proficiency with Abaqus, ANSYS, COMSOL, or equivalent tools
- Programming experience in MATLAB and/or Python
- M.S or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Experience with MEMS, multiphysics, system modeling, multibody dynamics, or reduced-order modeling
- Experience with nonlinear materials, fatigue, and fracture mechanics
- Experience with DOE, optimization, uncertainty quantification, or statistical analysis
- Experience with simulation automation, surrogate models, or ML-based simulation acceleration
- Experience with ANSA, META, HyperMesh, or similar tools
Responsibilities
- Develop and apply predictive analytical and computational models for advanced sensing technologies
- Determine appropriate modeling approaches to solve complex engineering challenges
- Influence architecture decisions and evaluate design tradeoffs
- Optimize product performance and improve robustness before hardware is built
- Validate models through experimentation and investigate complex mechanical issues
- Advance modeling methodologies that enable innovative sensing technologies
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
