JobsSRAM Circuit Design Engineer
Job description
As an SRAM Circuit Designer for the Digital Custom Group, you will be part of a world-class silicon design team responsible for creating innovative solutions for Apple's flagship products. This role involves collaborating with engineers to design custom digital circuits for SRAM, optimizing for power, timing, area, and yield. You will play a critical role in delivering high-performance chips like the M1 and A14 Bionic, influencing CPU, GPU, and SoC designs. The position requires a strong understanding of circuit design and the ability to work effectively within a team to bring groundbreaking ideas to fruition.
Requirements
- BS degree and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
- Experience within a SoC design cycle, developing circuits and SRAM/Register File for low power, low voltage, and high performance.
- Knowledge of Cache design/architecture and memory hierarchy.
- Working knowledge of RTL modeling.
- Solid understanding of industry-standard design tools.
- Deep understanding of nanometer device physics, leakage mechanisms, and technology interactions with device behavior.
- Ability to devise experiments and analyze data for silicon debug.
- Familiarity with Machine Learning algorithms and scripting is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement custom digital circuits for SRAM design.
- Work with a logic/architecture team to formulate design specifications.
- Define architecture/topologies optimizing for power, timing, area, and yield.
- Conduct schematic capture, simulations/analysis, and margin verifications.
- Perform functional equivalency and DFT modeling.
- Collaborate with the layout team to create optimal GDS.
- Verify extracted GDS meets design specifications.
- Conduct backend verification, including IR/EM analysis.
- Write RTL, validate use-cases, and verify against design schematics.
- Support post-silicon efforts to enable productization.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
