Job description

In this role, you will join the Powertrain Engineering team at Rivian, focusing on designing and executing validation strategies for electric vehicle drive units. You will act as a technical bridge between initial concepts and full production launch, ensuring that electric propulsion systems meet high industry standards. The position requires collaboration with various teams to manage testing milestones and external validation efforts. Your work will contribute to the development of emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, or a related technical discipline) or similar.
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience within the automotive or electric vehicle sector.
  • 1–5 years of hands-on experience developing and implementing EV requirements and validation strategies.
  • Deep understanding of electric powertrains, driveline systems, and high-voltage vehicle components.
  • Familiarity with modern product lifecycle and tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Jama.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and track end-to-end validation testing plans for the electric powertrain system.
  • Formulate clear validation methods and technical requirements using engineering calculations and simulations.
  • Define detailed test instructions for internal Test Operations and serve as the final approval authority for all tests.
  • Collaborate with the Test Operations group to schedule and perform testing to meet vehicle program milestones.
  • Guide the physical teardown of post-test parts and ensure rigorous documentation.
