The Staff System Power Engineer will be part of the Pixel System Power team, focusing on developing custom silicon solutions that enhance the battery life and performance of Google's consumer products. This role involves collaboration across software and hardware domains to optimize power consumption in mobile devices. The engineer will leverage their expertise in embedded systems and power processing to drive innovations that improve user experiences. The position is critical in shaping the future of Pixel devices by ensuring efficient power management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of work experience in development, testing, and deployment of consumer electronics or embedded systems.
- 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
- Experience in embedded systems, operating systems, and power processing.
Responsibilities
- Drive power optimizations on mobile phone SOCs.
- Provide inputs to architecture teams on new SOC features and initiatives to improve power.
- Analyze and optimize the software across key components of the SOC like CPU, GPU, memory subsystem, and connectivity.
- Develop tools and tests for validating and monitoring power consumption.
- Debug and resolve battery drain issues.
- Collaborate with Android and app teams across Google to help them optimize power.
