The Network Design and Planning Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Amazon Web Services (AWS) will focus on designing and planning copper and fiber network solutions for data centers. This role is part of the Network Infrastructure Design & Deployment (NIDD) team, which aims to deliver network capacity on time with zero rework. The successful candidate will create detailed designs, drive process improvements, and ensure adherence to industry standards. The position requires collaboration with engineers and managers across the company and may involve up to 25% travel.
Requirements
- The candidate must be a US citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
- 5+ years of experience developing design documentation for construction and/or permitting.
- 5+ years of working experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products.
- 5+ years of experience marking building design sets using Bluebeam Revu or similar software.
- BICSI RCDD Certification or internationally recognized equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Develop pathway, space, and cabling designs along with specifications for construction and permitting.
- Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic and copper plant designs and specifications.
- Review and approve ICT pathway, cabling, and equipment submittals.
- Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.
- Conduct quality assurance audits at project sites and implement corrective actions to resolve issues.
