The Senior Engineer on the AWS Bill Generation – Discounts team will focus on enhancing billing systems that compute discount-based derived line items for AWS customers. This role involves tackling complexity at the intersection of enterprise contracts, pricing flexibility, and billing accuracy. The team is responsible for building configuration-based billing infrastructure and improving discount transparency. The engineer will also mentor team members and ensure high standards of code quality and operational excellence.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers
• Knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing principles

• Design and build distributed systems that apply discount logic at AWS scale
• Build configuration-driven discount systems for sales, service, and finance teams
• Enforce accuracy in discount application, ensuring full auditability and traceability
• Partner with AWS sales, finance, and service teams to translate enterprise deal structures
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar for code quality and operational excellence
