Job description

The role focuses on performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation and failure analysis for next-generation consumer electronic products within the Apple Vision Product Design team. The position involves delivering high-quality Abaqus and LS-DYNA models for large-deformation simulations and collaborating with vendors and cross-functional teams. The candidate will assess products against specifications and standards while optimizing product performance through Design of Experiments. Additionally, the role emphasizes improving processes and expanding FEM support for wearable devices.

Requirements

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering or PhD/MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience with Finite Element Modeling.
  • 3+ years of experience with Explicit solvers such as Abaqus or LS-DYNA.
  • 3+ years of experience with biomechanics or impact mechanics.
  • Strong proficiency in Abaqus.
  • Experience with structural optimization.
  • Deep knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with human physiology and response to impact stimuli.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation and failure analysis for consumer electronic products.
  • Deliver high-quality Abaqus and LS-DYNA models for large-deformation simulations.
  • Work with vendors and cross-functional teams to develop FEM methods.
  • Assess products against internal specifications and external standards.
  • Offer insights into hypothesis-driven Design of Experiments to optimize product performance.
  • Improve processes by creating automated meshing scripts and SOPs.
  • Expand FEM support by building methods to assess comfort performance of wearable devices.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life.
