Job description
The Machine Learning Engineer will join the Human Interface Devices team, focusing on developing real-time, resource-constrained models for computer vision applications. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to create intuitive user interfaces and intelligence features for Apple's Vision Pro. The engineer will work on the entire development cycle, from prototyping to feature convergence, ensuring effective communication of technical challenges and user impacts. The position requires a blend of machine learning expertise and strong problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience building ML models, including data preparation, architecture selection, training, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and model development.
- Experience developing real-time, resource-constrained models using efficient architectures and compression techniques.
- Experience using genAI tools for software development.
- Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience developing input or interaction technologies.
- Comfortable with signal processing fundamentals.
- Comfortable implementing real-time algorithms in C++.
- MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Prototype and define features end-to-end in collaboration with hardware, software, and design partners.
- Design data collections and synthetic data generation for model development and evaluation.
- Define key performance indicators to evaluate user experience impact of model performance.
- Develop real-time, resource-constrained models that power user input and intelligence features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to root cause issues throughout the feature stack.
- Communicate user impacts of technical challenges to cross-functional stakeholders.
