Job description
The Interaction Algorithm Engineer will join the Human Interface Devices (HID) team, which focuses on integrating hardware, software, and design to enhance human-computer interactions. This role involves prototyping and developing algorithms for new interaction methods, requiring strong collaboration with various partners. The engineer will analyze data to improve algorithms and communicate technical challenges to stakeholders. A background in computer science, electrical engineering, or human-computer interaction is essential for success in this multidisciplinary environment.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of software development experience or equivalent internship/research experience
- Proficiency in C++ and Python
- Proficiency in signal processing and/or machine learning
- Comfortable with 3D mathematics
- Experience developing interactions or input technologies
- Experience using genAI tools for software development
- Able to communicate clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Excellent problem solving and root cause analysis skills
- Experience developing software with agentic workflows
- Experience developing software for Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality
- Experience with Objective-C and/or Swift
- MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field or equivalent experience
Responsibilities
- Prototype and define interactions end-to-end in collaboration with hardware, software, and design partners
- Design user studies and leverage prototypes to define success criteria
- Develop processes for measuring key performance indicators
- Analyze data to identify and drive algorithm improvements
- Create and maintain core algorithms for new interactions and root-cause issues throughout the stack
- Communicate user impacts of technical challenges to cross-functional stakeholders
