Rivian is seeking a Senior Vehicle Dynamics Engineer to join their Southern California team. This role focuses on shaping vehicle interactions with the road through both hardware and software tuning. The engineer will bridge traditional mechanical tuning with active chassis controls to deliver a unique driving experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for automotive technology and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- 3β5 years of automotive experience in vehicle dynamics or chassis development.
- Proficiency in data acquisition tools such as CANape or Dewesoft.
- Familiarity with simulation software like CarSim, CarMaker, or ADAMS is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and testing of chassis hardware, including tuning springs and anti-roll bars.
- Optimize damper tuning to ensure a robust baseline for vehicle performance.
- Evaluate tire submissions and guide the development process to meet vehicle attribute targets.
- Calibrate software logic for active damping, air suspension, and electronic power steering.
- Conduct subjective evaluations of ride comfort and handling, translating feedback into engineering direction.
- Instrument vehicles and analyze data to validate performance against internal metrics.
- Collaborate with the Multi-Body Dynamics Simulation team to refine models and enhance physical testing.
