Job description
The Senior Substation Electrical Engineer will lead the Substation Electrical Engineering discipline within the Transmission & Distribution Team at Jacobs in Boston, MA. This role involves managing multiple projects, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery of design packages, and mentoring junior staff. The engineer will also coordinate with other engineering disciplines and represent the project in front of clients. This position is crucial for meeting client objectives and solving engineering challenges in power systems.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Facilities Engineering or a closely related degree from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 15+ years of post-education experience, preferably with extensive background in Transmission and Distribution & Power Substation systems.
- Ability to inspect and design various high and low voltage power systems, power generation systems, and traction power substations.
- Knowledge of codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and on-budget delivery of design packages relevant to the discipline.
- Manage a group of engineers to achieve project goals efficiently.
- Guide and mentor junior staff within the engineering team.
- Coordinate interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
- Support the Project Engineer to achieve overall project goals.
