Job description

The Assistant Resident Engineer will support construction management teams in delivering various wastewater and tunneling projects in San Francisco. This role involves working closely with Lead Resident Engineers and collaborating with project teams, including Project Engineers and Inspectors. The focus is on ensuring successful project delivery through effective communication and teamwork. The position requires a strong background in engineering construction management and a commitment to meeting project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 10 years of experience providing resident or assistant resident engineering services for urban, underground tunneling and public works/utility construction projects.
  • Experience providing resident or assistant resident engineering services within the last 15 years for at least one urban underground tunneling construction project valued at $75 million or more.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Support project teams on technical decisions, schedule reviews, and change management.
  • Engage in project meetings with contractors and stakeholders to deliver results in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the contract change process by responding to requests for information and developing requests for proposals.
  • Prepare engineer's estimates and records of negotiations, and issue field change orders.
  • Review construction submittals for compliance with technical specifications and contract documents.
