The Global Engineering Strategy team at AWS is seeking a Civil Engineer to lead front end engineering and design strategy for new site developments. This role involves collaborating with various internal teams to ensure design requirements are met while maintaining high performance standards. The engineer will assist in site selection and master planning, playing a crucial role in delivering data center designs. • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer License.
• Knowledge of continuously operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment systems, and building management systems.
• Experience in carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience in reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders during the due diligence phase to oversee the process and ensure design requirements are considered.
• Gather data with internal teams to ensure prerequisites for the start of the design stage are met.
• Lead the predesign phase, managing internal partners and external vendor consultants to ensure design-ready deliverables are completed.
• Develop rollout strategies for new data center design types that impact site master plans and design strategy.
• Provide engineering design decisions to partner teams for strategic planning and region selection.
• Collaborate with other DCE teams to assess how various design types and products can be deployed for site development projects.
• Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
• Escalate issues as required and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse technical backgrounds.
