Job description
The Trade Compliance Engineer at KLA is responsible for ensuring that products and technologies comply with international trade regulations. This role acts as a technical liaison among various teams, including engineering and legal, to support product classification and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and expertise in trade regulations, particularly in complex manufacturing environments. The position is integral to maintaining KLA's compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, export controls, customs compliance, or regulatory engineering roles
- Strong knowledge of export control and customs regulations
- Experience interpreting technical product specifications and engineering documentation
- Experience with global trade management systems such as SAP GTS or Oracle GTM
Responsibilities
- Perform technical reviews of products, software, technology, and components to determine appropriate Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications
- Analyze engineering specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), technical drawings, and product documentation for classification purposes
- Partner with engineering teams to understand product functionality, technical capabilities, encryption features, and end-use applications
- Develop and improve processes for product classifications
- Support trade compliance with technology initiatives and system integrations
- Develop and provide classification guidance and training to teams across the enterprise
