The Data Center Controls Engineer will be part of Apple's Information Systems and Technology organization, focusing on designing and deploying integrated control systems for global data center infrastructure. This role requires bridging electrical power control and mechanical building automation to ensure seamless operations. The successful candidate will work within a team to optimize automation and control systems across various domains. The position emphasizes specification authorship and cross-domain technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent job-related experience.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with control systems in data centers or mission-critical environments for both electrical power and mechanical/HVAC systems.
• Understanding of controls for high-availability electrical systems and mechanical systems.
• Experience programming DDC/PLC controllers and redlining controls drawings.
• Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 programming languages such as Structured Text, Ladder Diagram, Function Block Diagram, and Instruction List.
• 8+ years of experience with data center control systems across design, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Proven experience authoring and maintaining technical control system specifications.
• Practical knowledge of electrical and mechanical control platforms.
• Experience with field communication protocols and integration of those systems into facility management platforms.
• Familiarity with IEC 61499 event-driven Function Block architecture and Python scripting for data analysis.

• Reduce RFIs and change orders through high-quality specification authorship.
