In this role at Apple, you will be part of the Platform Architecture group, focusing on the integration of hardware and software systems. You will collaborate with engineers to analyze system-on-a-chip (SoC) power and performance characteristics. The team aims to inform future product directions by identifying performance limitations and recommending improvements. This position requires a strong foundation in computer architecture and a curiosity about hardware/software co-design.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience using benchmark software tools to accurately measure system performance.
- Experience with Python and shell scripting.
- Experience with modern consumer electronics devices, SoCs, and multiple operating systems.
- Solid foundation in computer architecture fundamentals.
- Experience using power measurement tools with benchmark software for simultaneous power and performance measurements.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Understanding the design or reverse-engineering of DC power delivery circuits.
- Some systems programming or driver development experience, especially relating to power management.
Responsibilities
- Analyze SoC power and performance across multiple functional subsystems.
- Use existing and new workloads and benchmarks for performance analysis.
- Identify performance limitations in collaboration with colleagues.
- Provide recommendations for hardware and software improvements.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
