As a Fleet Remediation Project Design Mechanical Engineer at AWS, you will lead design projects in operational data centers to address issues, upgrade infrastructure, and add new services. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure the highest standards of safety and security while optimizing capacity and sustainability. This role requires strong engineering judgment and the ability to manage multiple projects across various regions. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning specific education courses
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
Responsibilities
- Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add infrastructure, improve availability, and increase sustainability.
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for Data Centers in your region.
- Interface with internal and external data center design engineering teams, server hardware teams, environmental health and safety teams, field engineering, and controls engineering.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for your discipline during new remediation projects.
- Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.
- Prepare and present progress reports to all relevant stakeholders.
- Manage design and as-built drawings and documents.
- Prioritize activities to support data center safety, remediation projects, capacity, and availability.
