Job description

Amazon Robotics is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the SWAT team, which focuses on building automation frameworks and control systems for robotic testing. The role involves designing software that interfaces with hardware, developing automation scripts, and collaborating with hardware engineers. Candidates should have a strong software development background and a passion for working closely with hardware. The team aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of robotic systems through innovative software solutions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Experience in Linux/RHEL or software development in Kubernetes, Docker or containers ecosystem
  • Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems
  • Experience with hardware communication protocols such as CAN bus, EtherCAT, Modbus, RS-232/485, SPI/I2C
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks or hardware-in-the-loop testing

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement control and coordination software for hardware test fixtures and workcells
  • Develop automation scripts and frameworks that interface directly with robotic hardware
  • Build reliable data collection pipelines for test measurements and hardware telemetry
  • Contribute to the Automation Platform by extending and improving joint tooling used across multiple product programs
  • Partner closely with Hardware Test Engineers and Hardware Development Engineers to comprehend test requirements and translate them into automated solutions
  • Participate in the full development lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational facilitation of test infrastructure
