Job description
This role is part of the global controls team within AWS Infrastructure Services, focusing on the management and operation of building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) in data centers. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure the highest standards of safety and security while optimizing capacity and cost. The position involves troubleshooting, project management, and the development of new processes and standards in the controls space. You will also engage with stakeholders to deliver projects that enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of project management experience in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
- Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
- Knowledge of critical data center equipment and engineering documentation
- Familiarity with building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA
- Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure
Responsibilities
- Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
- Provide technical assistance and support to operations during the life cycle of the data center.
- Develop BMS and EPMS project scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and levels of effort.
- Manage the scope, schedule, finance, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects.
- Assist in procurement activities including reviewing vendor proposals and issuing purchase orders.
- Participate in the AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate technical support.
- Attend project-related meetings and coordinate with project leaders.
- Support commissioning activities related to Controls projects in the data centers.
- Review and implement controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to the design team.
- Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
- Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate challenging situations.
- Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
- Frequently visit assigned in-operation data centers to troubleshoot and supervise vendor work.
