Job description

As a Server CPU SoC Architect at Intel, you will be instrumental in defining and developing innovative CPU architectures that meet various performance and power targets. You will work within Intel's Architecture team, which focuses on delivering advanced hardware solutions for the next generation of computing. This role involves evaluating architectural tradeoffs and collaborating with multiple teams to ensure the successful execution of CPU projects. Your contributions will directly influence Intel's cutting-edge CPU designs and drive industry innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 4+ years of hands-on experience in CPU architecture, or Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • 4+ years' experience in architecture definition, modeling, and/or CPU architecture fundamentals.
  • 4+ years' experience in SoC architecture and development methodologies.
  • 8+ years of experience with advanced CPU technology is preferred.
  • Strong understanding/experience working on Fabric/Interconnect, PCIe/CXL, Coherency protocols, Core/ISA or accelerators is preferred.
  • Knowledge of performance and power modeling, bottleneck analysis, and optimization for CPU workloads is preferred.
  • Experience with instruction set architecture (ISA) development and implementation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry trends and the ability to align technical vision with market demands is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document end-to-end architecture specifications, ensuring modularity, scalability, and compatibility with hardware and software requirements.
  • Explore and develop new architectural approaches, novel features, and inventive solutions to meet performance, power, and area optimization targets.
  • Conduct detailed feasibility studies and tradeoff analyses to define CPU requirements and content, including new instructions to support emerging use cases.
  • Model CPU performance and power, analyze bottlenecks, and propose architectural improvements based on future workload predictions.
  • Develop test plans, testing infrastructure, and simulations for new features, using advanced statistical methods to analyze results and benchmark CPU performance.
  • Collaborate across architecture, design, verification, and validation teams to ensure seamless execution of CPU projects and deliver optimized solutions.
  • Influence cross-functional roadmaps and define technology targets that align with Intel's future CPU strategies.
