Job description
The Senior Data Engineer will be part of the AI and Machine Learning team at Apple, focusing on building world-class data infrastructure and solutions. This role involves collaborating with machine learning researchers, engineers, and data scientists to develop transformative products. The engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms that support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence. The position requires a strong foundation in data engineering and a passion for tackling ambitious technical challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or distributed systems.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and building large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines using Python.
- Expertise in ETL/ELT development and event-driven architectures.
- Deep expertise in the Google Cloud Platform data ecosystem, including BigQuery and Dataflow.
- Proficient in Python, version control, CI/CD practices, testing, and code reviews.
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or large-scale distributed systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms.
- Enable reliable analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence capabilities across the organization.
- Support ML pipelines and MLOps workflows, including feature engineering and training data generation.
- Influence architecture decisions across teams and drive technical direction.
- Collaborate in cross-functional, fast-paced tech environments to build reliable and maintainable data systems.
