Job description
The Systems Engineer role within Amazon's Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) team focuses on deploying advanced industrial automation and robotics technologies across North America. This position requires strong technical skills for overseeing project planning, installation, and launch of robotic systems. The role involves extensive collaboration with various stakeholders and demands a passion for fieldwork and problem-solving. Candidates will be expected to travel extensively, upwards of 75%, to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models.
- 1+ years of experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot robotics systems to resolve escalations.
- Proven experience working on hardware integration or complex mechanical-electrical or networked industrial equipment.
- Practical understanding of network fundamentals such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
- Willingness to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment and travel extensively.
Responsibilities
- Support and guide installation of robotics, packaging, and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers.
- Develop detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems and guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Manage technical ambiguity around integration of work cells in fulfillment centers.
- Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers.
- Travel to project sites and collaborate both virtually and in person to ensure alignment on program status.
- Manage day-to-day project scheduling and budget management.
- Work on continuous improvement activities to enhance project outcomes.
- Lead teams of other engineers on projects.
