Job description
The Security Engineer II position at Amazon Healthcare Security's Detections & Monitoring team focuses on designing, building, and operating detection and monitoring capabilities to protect Amazon Health Services. The role involves working at the intersection of detection engineering and security operations, utilizing AI-powered tools to enhance detection and response workflows. The team is dedicated to ensuring rapid threat detection and efficient investigation while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and Amazon's security standards. Requirements
- 5+ years of security-related professional experience
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or 2+ years of IT Security experience
- Experience demonstrating software engineering skills or programming/scripting experience
- Experience directly working with cloud hosting technologies such as AWS or Azure
- Experience with log aggregation and analysis platforms or endpoint detection tools
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards including HIPAA and GDPR
- Experience building detection-as-code frameworks or custom detection pipelines
- Understanding of generative AI technologies and ability to identify security risks in agentic architectures
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain detection-as-code capabilities across cloud infrastructure and applications
- Develop and deploy detections and monitoring for agentic applications and AI services
- Build automated investigation and response workflows leveraging AI to scale triage and remediation
- Continuously monitor telemetry data and alerting systems for early signals of compromise
- Triage and correlate alerts from multiple sources to identify patterns and reduce noise
- Lead and participate in incident response, including detection and investigation
- Partner cross-functionally to expand logging and improve observability
- Proactively identify gaps in visibility or detection coverage and translate ambiguous threat landscapes
- Develop and maintain security documentation including detection coverage maps and threat models
