The Apple Service Engineering (ASE) team is looking for an experienced software engineer to enhance Kubernetes clusters and infrastructure for Apple's services. This role involves working with a team of engineers to customize Kubernetes to meet Apple's diverse needs, particularly focusing on GPU integration. The engineer will engage with the upstream community to align Apple's requirements and ensure the platform delivers applications at scale. This position is ideal for someone passionate about building systems that impact millions of users.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience.
  • Strong experience with building and scaling core components of Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems.
  • Highly proficient in Golang.
  • Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with teams across Apple to develop features for Kubernetes clusters.
  • Improve the scalability, availability, and performance of services centered around Kubernetes.
  • Evolve the design and architecture to support continued growth.
  • Collaborate with SRE to triage, investigate, and remediate production issues.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
