Job description

The role is for a senior engineer on the Ads Platform Engineering team at Netflix, focusing on building and maintaining the core ad serving infrastructure. This team is responsible for ensuring high availability and low latency in ad delivery across a global content ecosystem. The position emphasizes hands-on ownership and the ability to make impactful technical decisions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment and possess expertise in ad technology.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience, with at least 4+ years in the Ads domain.
  • Expertise in building and operating highly-available, distributed systems at massive scale.
  • Hands-on experience building core ad server components such as decisioning logic and ad selection.
  • Deep understanding of ad-tech ecosystem standards and business requirements.
  • Proven ability to design scalable APIs and data models that support complex, multi-service ecosystems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and operate backend services for core ad decisioning.
  • Design and build scalable, modular backend frameworks for targeting and policy enforcement.
  • Create clean, scalable APIs and data models for interoperability across the Ad Platform ecosystem.
  • Build services that manage ad selection and delivery consistency in high-traffic environments.
  • Implement SLO-driven development and own the incident response lifecycle.
  • Develop diagnostics, logging, and telemetry frameworks for system health and reliability.
  • Utilize knowledge of advertising concepts to ensure the platform meets industry standards.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
