The HV Underground Transmission Engineer will work within Jacobs to support and lead projects focused on underground and subsea cable technology, which are essential for modern energy transmission. This role involves collaboration with regional and global experts to address the evolving demands of the energy industry. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in high voltage applications to contribute to business development and client proposals. The position emphasizes a hybrid working model, allowing flexibility between office and remote work.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related engineering discipline from a recognized institution, with a Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of direct experience with underground and/or subsea cable design and installation.
• Ability to work with cable design software such as CYMCAP.
• Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE and CIGRE.
• Experience working with major global cable OEMs.
• Willingness to travel within North America.

• Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design, and design review.
• Provide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV cable system engineering and design.
• Prepare specifications, power cable route specifications, and progress reports.
• Confirm correct and accurate interface with other engineering functions involved in the projects.
• Attend and conduct internal and external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
• Support factory inspections and testing (FAT).
• Perform technical calculations including cable size, rating calculations, and EMF calculations.
• Conduct design reviews and verification of design.
• Ensure that drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction.
• Request any missing information in sufficient time to avoid project delays.
• Confirm that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the specifications.
