Job description
Jacobs is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to join their Baltimore team, focusing on complex structural engineering tasks related to bridge and transportation structure design. This role involves leading projects and serving as a senior technical expert on both local and nationally-recognized highway and rail projects. The engineer will guide design development and perform advanced structural analysis while mentoring junior engineers. The position emphasizes collaboration with clients and stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, with a Master's degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in bridge design, analysis, and plan development.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland or able to obtain within 3 months.
- Experience working with MDOT SHA, MDTA, and MTA, including familiarity with relevant guidelines and procedures.
- Proficiency in CAD systems, specifically MicroStation, and experience with modeling software such as OpenBridge/OpenRoads Designer.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform complex structural analysis and design for highway and rail bridges.
- Develop and review design plans, technical specifications, calculations, and engineering reports.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Conduct occasional structural inspections as required.
