Job description
Tesla's Cathode Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group is seeking a motivated engineer to tackle challenges in Battery Cathode Materials. The role involves designing and constructing manufacturing facilities and skid systems for innovative cathode manufacturing processes. The engineer will lead projects from concept through final design and installation, working closely with various stakeholders to enhance large-scale production lines. This position requires a strong background in structural engineering and project management within a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing steel structures used in industrial plants.
- PE (Civil Structural) license is required and the ability to obtain P.E. license in Texas within 12 months is required.
- Knowledge of AISC steel manual, ACI code 318, ASCE 7, and IBC.
- Experience creating detailed structural drawings in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar programs.
- Experience with basic CAD modelling with SolidWorks or similar software.
- Experience with analysis software such as RISA-3D, STAAD Pro, or ETABS.
- Prefer strong mechanical background or experience with custom Mechanical Designs.
- Understanding of other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, and piping.
- Experience with project management of major construction projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical expert in structural engineering for projects.
- Conduct structural analysis and design of steel structures.
- Make technical assumptions and draw conclusions based on engineering judgement.
- Oversee data collection and management for engineering work.
- Review and approve structural models and calculations from contractors.
- Ensure optimization of steel structures weight.
- Prepare engineering deliverables for multiple projects.
- Develop structural and mechanical designs for equipment connections and piping systems.
