Tesla is looking for a Senior Process Safety Engineer to join the EHS Design & Deploy Team. This role involves ensuring environmental health and safety milestones are integrated throughout the design, manufacturing, and commissioning phases of various programs. The engineer will lead the EHS Engineering team and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance and implement best practices. The position requires a strong focus on risk assessments and safety controls in the design of processes and facilities.

• A degree in Engineering (Environmental, Safety, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or closely related industry) or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of related work experience is necessary.
• Experience leading or facilitating Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), HAZOPs, and Risk Assessments is essential.
• The candidate must have working experience with functional safety and SIL verification calculations.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and various state agency regulations is required.

• Facilitate risk assessments for process and facility design including HAZOPs and FMEA studies.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation solutions for identified hazards.
• Implement the 14 elements of Process Safety Management during design and commissioning.
• Lead the design of safety controls by collaborating with lead controls engineers.
• Produce detailed engineering reports as needed.
