Job description

This role is a pivotal position within Tesla's Vehicle Engineering Team, focusing on the design and development of Charge Port Doors for all Tesla vehicles. The individual will collaborate with a creative and resourceful team, engaging in all stages of the design cycle from concept to production. The role emphasizes innovation and continuous improvement of current models, while also supporting product launches and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical skills and hands-on experience in prototyping and design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with product development programs, particularly with moving mechanisms involving sensors and actuators
  • Basic understanding of design for injection molding
  • Clear understanding of sensors, actuators, and support electronics
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts and understand manufacturing processes
  • Flexibility with changing requirements and demands, self-driven and motivated
  • Hands-on skills in manufacturing and assembly principles, soldering, and using basic power tools
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably Catia V5/V6, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Arduino prototyping to control sensors and actuators

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Vehicle Engineering Team to support automotive development for Tesla vehicle product lines with a focus on Charge Port Door
  • Develop world-class component and system-level designs and contribute to the cross-functional team
  • Support product launches and develop improvements to the functionality of components
  • Support manufacturing processes and material selections while optimizing designs
  • Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into product designs
