Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Staff Engineer to focus on manufacturing test software development for the Optimus manufacturing testing. This role involves developing end-to-end testing solutions and software implementations in a fast-paced environment. The engineer will collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and contribute to the development of a groundbreaking product. Candidates with experience in high-volume product launches and successful project leadership are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience in high volume manufacturing testing of actuators, sensors, electronics, or related electromechanical hardware
- Experience in hardware test frameworks such as OpenHTF, pytest, or Robot Framework
- Fluency in Python and JavaScript
- Experience in PLC controls and PLC – Tester communication and error handling
- Familiarity with Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS)
- Experience working with Linux OS and Docker
- Familiarity with protocols such as CAN and EtherCAT
- Experience with databases for test data storage, including SQL and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with data pipeline/data visualization tools such as Telegraf, Kafka, and Grafana
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement manufacturing test software for the Optimus general assembly line
- Collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to develop test coverage and define metrics
- Design and develop comprehensive manufacturing test software including connectivity tests and functional tests
- Develop software for automated manufacturing testers that may include PLC controllers
- Debug and root-cause issues related to manufacturing testing
- Develop and maintain scalable and reliable manufacturing testing software for high volume production
- Log, store, and analyze test data to enable failure analysis and design improvements
- Engage early with cross-functional development teams to drive design for test requirements
- Work with internal and external tester development partners on automation tester design and validation
