Job description

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Staff Engineer to diagnose and solve issues related to Optimus robots and their manufacturing equipment. Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls, or Mechatronics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven proficiency in diagnosing and fixing product and equipment issues.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with debugging tools such as multimeters, soldering tools, and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with electrical control panel schematic and layout.
  • Experience with AI robotic systems and manufacturing automation control.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly diagnose and solve manufacturing issues related to Optimus bots and the equipment used to build them.
  • Review clips and CAN data using CANAPE/PCAN Explorer, run firmware routines, and debug electronics.
  • Review schematics and drawings, perform electrical measurements, and develop effective fixes for equipment issues.
  • Document issues, track trends, and report metrics to inform design improvements.
  • Support the launch and commissioning of new manufacturing automation equipment.
  • Initiate repair requests with technicians and validate repairs by running software routines.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repair of hardware systems.
  • Utilize debugging tools such as multimeters, soldering tools, and oscilloscopes.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and firmware engineering to implement improvements.
