Job description

Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Kernel Software Engineer to join the Wireless Systems team, focusing on developing advanced telematics solutions for various vehicle platforms. The role involves embedded software design and development across cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth technologies. Candidates will work closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers in a fast-paced environment. The position requires creativity and independence in solving complex design challenges.

Requirements

  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Kernel sub-systems such as Display, Networking, Camera, or IPC.
  • Exceptional programming skills in C/C++, Linux OS, and Python/Shell scripting.
  • Hands-on experience in maintaining the Linux kernel and embedded services.
  • Experience in porting and patching open-source packages within the Yocto Project environment.
  • Experience in bringing up Multi SOC hardware.
  • Understanding of various IPC and Networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with embedded interfaces like UART, I2C, I2S, SPI, CAN, PCIe is a plus.
  • Good understanding or development experience with AOSP or iOS frameworks.
  • Familiarity with version control and collaborative development using Git and GitHub.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain custom BSP Kernel packages.
  • Contribute to the overall bring-up of new hardware.
  • Develop tools and applications to simplify debugging.
  • Optimize boot sequences.
  • Develop Multi SOC inter-communication mechanisms.
  • Work independently and creatively solve challenging design problems.
