Job description
The Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer will lead efforts to enhance quality and reduce costs within the cell quality structure at Tesla. This role involves collaboration with various departments to identify root causes of non-conformances and ensure proper handling of suspect parts. The engineer will also focus on process definition, standardization, and ongoing optimization of products and processes. A strong background in engineering and quality tools is essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in a related field
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships quickly across teams
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential
- Solid background in leading core quality tools like MSA, pFMEA, SPC
- Solid background in lean manufacturing principles and techniques
Responsibilities
- Support cross-functional teams in investigating suspect components and parts
- Lead technical root-cause analysis for Cell shops
- Lead projects aimed at launching and enhancing test equipment for component investigations
- Lead cross-functional workshops on waste elimination in the production and quality process
- Lead and manage engineering projects to ensure effective delivery of technical solutions
- Identify and deliver measurable reductions in spend while improving operational efficiency
- Define processes and create standards for MRB, COPQ, and escalation procedures
- Build a process to align the quality team and departments toward a shared understanding of quality issues related to COPQ
- Contribute to ongoing product and process optimization, focusing on performance, cost reduction, and technological advancement
