Job description
Tesla Motors is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Vehicle Engineering Team, focusing on the design of the Supermanifold Assembly, which is a key component of the Tesla heat pump system. Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of full-time or internship experience with a strong track record in design and building
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex design problems under tight timing constraints
- Strong design, packaging, and 3D modeling skills with proficiency in CATIA preferred
- Passion for electric vehicles and energy efficiency
- Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Knowledge of mechanics, structure design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
Responsibilities
- Design and package thermal system components to meet system and vehicle requirements while optimizing for efficiency, cost, weight, manufacturability, and serviceability
- Manage suppliers and projects to ensure timely program deliverables within budget
- Develop component and system-level requirements based on vehicle-level requirements and customer experience
- Lead the creation of component specifications, DFMEA, and other technical design documents
- Develop and execute component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods to validate adherence to requirements
- Ensure vehicles conform to all motor vehicle safety standards governing thermal system operation
- Support vehicle programs through the entire lifecycle, including spec development, prototype builds, vehicle testing, and production
