This role focuses on owning and developing sensor subsystems for Tesla vehicles, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards. The engineer will work on both vehicle-dynamics and human-interaction sensing technologies, translating complex physical signals into actionable data for the vehicle. The position requires a deep understanding of sensor hardware and the ability to drive projects from concept to high-volume production. Collaboration with various teams is essential to align sensor hardware with functional and experiential requirements.

• Deep experience shipping sensor hardware to production in either vehicle-dynamics sensing or human-interaction sensing.
• Fluency across transducer technologies such as magnetic, inductive, capacitive, piezoelectric, MEMS, and optical.
• Comfortable defining requirements and making risk-based decisions under incomplete information.
• Experience in PCB and EMC design for harsh automotive environments.
• Knowledge of automotive communication interfaces and the ability to select among them.
• Familiarity with automotive qualification standards and functional safety.
• High-volume manufacturing experience with direct supplier collaboration.

• Own subsystems end-to-end and be accountable for their performance in the field.
• Define sensor performance as measurable hardware requirements tied to FSD and user experience.
• Challenge inherited architectures and drive alternatives to production.
• Make technology and integration decisions where precedent is absent.
• Lead schematic design, component selection, and PCB layout for vehicle interface electronics.
• Design and validate for extreme chassis environments and HMI durability.
• Build validation plans with measurable pass/fail criteria tied to performance and safety.
• Collaborate with various teams to align sensor hardware with functional requirements.
• Drive suppliers to meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
• Compress prototype-to-production timelines through disciplined iteration.
