Tesla's aerodynamics and aeroacoustics team is looking for an aerodynamics tools engineer to develop simulation and analysis tools that support new product creation. The role involves collaboration with aerodynamics and HPC engineers to define requirements and build efficient software tools. The engineer will also optimize methodologies and enhance analysis capabilities through CFD and related technologies. This position requires a strong background in aerodynamics and fluid dynamics, as well as proficiency in various programming languages.

• Degree in Aerodynamics, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Expert knowledge of CFD and fluid dynamics fundamentals
• Track record of CFD tools development
• Familiarity with HPC systems and process automation
• Proficiency in Java, Bash, Python and MATLAB
• Ability to work towards challenging, dynamic goals with minimal supervision
• Experience developing methodologies and workflows using RANS, LES, lattice-Boltzmann, Lagrangian multiphase, DEM, VOF and/or CHT

• Work alongside aerodynamics and aeroacoustics engineers to identify and prioritize tools development opportunities
• Set up and validate CFD methodologies for a broad range of aerodynamics and aeroacoustics simulations
• Acquire and utilize experimental test data to correlate and develop CFD methodologies
• Develop workflows and automation to streamline simulation and improve productivity
• Develop and manage aerodynamics databases
• Maximize aerodynamics data value and utilization through the development of data extraction and analysis tools
• Utilize and develop AI tools to optimize productivity for yourself and the team
