Tesla is seeking a technical people leader for the Production Engineering team in Reno, Nevada. This role involves managing a team of Equipment and Process Engineers focused on improving equipment efficiency, availability, and cycle time. The successful candidate will lead by example, mentor team members, and ensure high performance while maintaining technical excellence. The position requires a proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience leading technical teams within heavily automated, high volume manufacturing facilities
• Exemplary track record of high impact contributions both as an individual Engineer and in a management capacity
• Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing principles
• Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal
• Experience with application and teaching of structured problem-solving methodology, such as DOE and root cause analysis
• Experience with mechanical, automation, and controls engineering is highly preferred

• Manage, mentor and lead a team of Equipment and Process Engineers and Engineering Technicians at Gigafactory Nevada
• Build and improve management systems to ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently
• Ensure team safety training is current and document EHS incidents
• Own, report on and drive improvement of area KPI’s including equipment availability and efficiency
• Coach engineers to develop and implement equipment upgrades
• Lead and assist Engineers in resolving unplanned down events
• Make daily resource allocation decisions to balance competing priorities
• Serve as backup Engineer for all team members to ensure zero gaps in coverage
• Collaborate with development manufacturing engineering and controls teams to install and debug new processes and equipment
• Be available for off-hours and weekend calls and support
