Meta is looking for an experienced engineer to join the Production Operations team within their Data Centers. This role focuses on maintaining the health of the platform through troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with server hardware and Linux in a data center environment. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and participation in technical projects to improve processes and automation.

• BS, BA or BEng in a technical field or commensurate experience
• 5+ years of technical IT experience within an infrastructure environment
• Intermediate-level understanding in Linux or equivalent OS
• Hands-on experience and knowledge of server hardware and components
• Intermediate-level knowledge of data center functions and technologies
• Experience managing technical issues and driving to root cause
• Ability to communicate effectively and tailor messages to the audience
• Intermediate-level knowledge of technologies such as HTTP, DNS, RAID, and DHCP
• Experience in debugging and developing scripts in languages like Bash, PHP, Python, SQL, Rust, Go or Perl
• Knowledge of out-of-band server communication methods
• Experience using data and metrics to drive decisions

• Support platform health by resolving and closing tickets while addressing root causes.
• Participate in deep dives and root cause analysis of technical issues within the data center.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects related to process, hardware, and automation.
• Act as the point of contact for introducing new platforms and hardware to the site.
• Use tools and data analysis to identify issues and communicate with stakeholders.
• Identify corrective actions for hardware issues and work with internal teams and vendors.
• Influence future design changes to ensure ease of serviceability.
• Solve systemic hardware and software issues at scale using scripting and automation.
• Continuously evaluate and identify areas for improvement in processes and tools.
• Use data analytics to drive maximum server uptime and utilization rates.
• Support and train team members in resolving issues and updating tools and processes.
• Provide engineering support and be a technical resource for the team and leadership.
• Maintain and update documentation such as procedures and runbooks.
• Build cross-functional relationships and influence policies to improve operations.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Be willing to travel up to 15% of the time.
