This role involves working on HVAC climate control, cabin air quality, and camera cleaning systems, ensuring they meet automotive reliability and safety standards. The engineer will be responsible for defining measurable hardware requirements and driving first-of-its-kind technology from concept to high-volume production. This position requires a deep understanding of sensing architectures and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Requirements
- Experience with sensing architectures for temperature, humidity, air quality, and optical clarity.
- Knowledge of driver circuits for actuators including heaters, motors, and fans.
- Familiarity with PCB and EMC design for harsh automotive environments.
- Understanding of automotive communication interfaces such as CAN-FD and LIN.
- Experience with automotive qualification standards and functional safety awareness.
- High-volume manufacturing experience with supplier collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Own subsystems end-to-end and ensure their performance in the field.
- Define measurable hardware requirements for cabin comfort and air quality.
- Challenge existing architectures and drive alternative solutions to production.
- Lead schematic design, component selection, and PCB layout.
- Build validation plans with measurable pass/fail criteria.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align hardware with requirements.
- Drive suppliers to meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
Benefits
- Employees at Tesla are often offered day-one coverage with multiple medical options (some at $0 paycheck cost), dental/vision, company HSA contributions, a 401(k) match, and equity programs. Most roles also include paid time off and holidays, family-building support, employee assistance, commuter and childcare benefits, and access to discounts and wellness programs.
