Job description
Tesla's Infotainment EE team is looking for an electronic design engineer to lead the development of next-generation infotainment motherboards. This role involves balancing performance, power, cost, and reliability to enhance the cabin experience in Tesla vehicles. The engineer will work on high-resolution displays, immersive audio, and on-vehicle AI inference. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure the delivery of best-in-class infotainment hardware systems.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- A deep understanding of electrical/electronic engineering principles
- 5+ years driving and maintaining schematics in Cadence Allegro Capture or equivalent
- Demonstrated end-to-end PCBA validation ownership with bring-up, characterization, FA, and system test
- Complex motherboard experience with high-performance x86/Arm application processors
- High-speed digital interface experience: DDR, PCIe, MIPI, Ethernet, DisplayPort, HDMI, USB
- Low-speed digital interface experience: I2C, UART, SPI, JTAG, GPIO
- Familiarity with analog and power fundamentals (controller, MOSFETs, op-amps, gate drivers)
- High-efficiency voltage regulator design and analysis
- Experience shipping high-volume products from concept to mass production
Responsibilities
- Translate product and performance requirements into compute, memory bandwidth, display, audio, networking, peak power, and storage targets
- Lead parts selection for critical components such as SoC, memory, storage, and audio controllers
- Implement open-ended electrical discussions into concrete circuit design and schematics
- Lead PCBA bring-up, electrical characterization, validation across PVT corners, and failure analysis
- Collaborate cross-functionally with PCB layout, firmware, mechanical, signal and power integrity, thermal, reliability, EMC, service, and program management
- Document design requirements, calculations, and budgets to a level that supports audit and reuse
- Design for manufacturability, testability, EMC compliance, and automotive reliability
- Deliver infotainment hardware systems from concept to production
