Job description
The Manufacturing Equipment Engineer will be part of the Production Engineering team, focusing on operating, sustaining, and improving highly automated manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong aptitude for learning and will start with expertise in specific areas such as 3D CAD drawing, robotics, and PLC programming. This role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance factory operations and equipment effectiveness. Engineers will also be responsible for training technicians and developing maintenance procedures.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience with PLC programming, primarily Beckhoff and/or Siemens
- 6+ years in a highly automated, high volume manufacturing facility
- Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly
- Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings, pneumatics, and electrical schematics
- Strong Mechanical aptitude with experience dealing with precision equipment
Responsibilities
- Sustain 24 by 7 production operations by resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently
- Lead cross-functional teams on improvement projects to enhance factory operations
- Develop and improve equipment validation procedures including calibration and qualification
- Become an Expert Level Trainer on all machines in the assigned area
- Create, implement and improve Preventative and Predictive Maintenance documents and schedules
- Program ladder logic and structured text on multiple PLC controller platforms
- Participate in spare part analysis and inventory development
