Job description

The Integration Engineer role on Tesla's Autonomy team focuses on integrating cutting-edge AI and robotics technology into vehicles and robotic platforms. This position involves software development, system-level problem solving, and collaboration across various teams to enhance the performance of autonomous systems. Engineers will play a crucial role in defining safety and reliability specifications for driverless operations. The work ranges from early-stage prototyping to production deployment, contributing to the development of core features that drive Tesla's innovation in mobility and robotics.

Requirements

  • Experience developing in C/C++, including modern standards (C++14/17/20), multithreading, and Python.
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems architecture and real-time software design principles.
  • Working knowledge of computer vision, machine learning, and their practical applications in real-world systems.
  • Experience with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, and TCP/IP.
  • Proficient in Linux-based software development, with additional experience in embedded Linux environments and cross-compilation toolchains considered a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking, debugging skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end integration of Autopilot features across software, user interfaces, and vehicle hardware systems.
  • Drive feature development through simulation, validation, and fleet-driven feedback loops.
  • Optimize system-level behavior to maximize feature effectiveness while minimizing power and resource usage.
  • Provide performance data and constructive feedback to hardware design and manufacturing teams to continuously improve processes and system capabilities.
  • Bring up Autonomy features on new vehicle and compute platforms.
  • Write, debug, and maintain robust C/C++ software for the Autopilot and humanoid robot software stack.

Benefits

  • Employees at Tesla are often offered day-one coverage with multiple medical options (some at $0 paycheck cost), dental/vision, company HSA contributions, a 401(k) match, and equity programs. Most roles also include paid time off and holidays, family-building support, employee assistance, commuter and childcare benefits, and access to discounts and wellness programs.
