Job description

The role involves joining a small team of engineers at Tesla to build the backend platform that connects various Tesla devices, including vehicles and robots. The team is responsible for enabling remote interactions and delivering features to millions of customers. The position focuses on developing scalable backend services and APIs for vehicle connectivity and telemetry. Candidates should have experience in distributed systems and a desire to work at fleet scale.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience building and operating production distributed systems
  • Strong experience with Go or deep experience in another systems language
  • Solid understanding of the technologies and their tradeoffs
  • Track record of end-to-end system ownership
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, or similar infrastructure
  • Understanding of web security fundamentals
  • Initiative to identify and solve problems
  • Value consistency in software building practices

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs for vehicle connectivity and telemetry
  • Build and scale systems powering Robotaxi and Optimus
  • Contribute to authentication and the developer platform
  • Take strong ownership of the systems from design through production
  • Work closely with product, SRE, and infrastructure teams
