Job description
The Installation Engineer 2 (IE2) role at KLA involves working on the installation of new tools at customer sites, ensuring adherence to procedures and achieving predictable warranty starts. The position is part of the KLA Services team, which focuses on maintaining high performance and productivity of products through various services. The role requires extensive travel, both domestically and internationally, and demands strong analytical and mechanical skills to troubleshoot technical equipment problems. The IE2 will work independently while collaborating with senior engineers and management as needed.
Requirements
- A minimum degree in ASET or equivalent work experience in supporting complex capital equipment for the semiconductor industry is required.
- Strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude are necessary.
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot problems in software and electronics, optics, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical systems is essential.
- Knowledge of computer theory, various operating systems, and networking in a Windows, Unix, or Novell environment is required.
- Competency with the MS Office suite of applications is necessary.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to understand customer needs are essential.
Responsibilities
- Install new tools at customer sites while following all procedures and achieving consistent results.
- Evaluate, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot technical equipment problems related to installation.
- Prepare field service reports and daily passdowns on installation progress and non-conformances.
- Obtain necessary international travel documents and manage personal finances for extended travel.
- Travel domestically and internationally to customer sites using commercial transportation.
- Work with senior engineers and management to formulate and carry out plans of action.
