Job description
This role involves working as a software engineer on the HealthKit team, which is central to health and fitness applications on Apple platforms. The team focuses on enhancing the functionality of the Health app while ensuring user data remains secure and private. Engineers will collaborate with various teams across Apple, including hardware and software, to deliver innovative health features. The position requires a strong engineering background and a commitment to improving health technology.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 8 years of experience working in Objective-C, Swift, C++ or similar high level programming languages
- Strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals
- Solid background in object-oriented architecture and design
- Deep understanding of systems-level concepts like multi-threading and interprocess communication
- Expertise with debugging tools and performance tuning
- Knowledge of iOS programming and Apple technologies such as Grand Central Dispatch, CloudKit, or XPC Activity/Services
- Experience delivering libraries, frameworks or APIs
- Experience with distributed systems design, development and support
- Experience with SQL and database technologies
- Familiarity with Fitness, Wellness or Medical concepts
- Strong communication skills, including ability to collaborate in a diversity of backgrounds and experiences
- Willingness to learn and improve, and also mentor and support other team members
- Highly organized, maintaining patience and composure to effectively operate within ambiguity
Responsibilities
- Expand the functionality of the Health app and HealthKit framework.
- Collaborate across Apple feature teams and hardware teams.
- Design solutions for distributed health data storage and performance.
- Integrate new health and fitness features into iOS and watchOS.
- Work with domain experts like doctors and fitness experts.
- Deliver new APIs and ensure they meet performance standards.
