The Amazon Managed Streaming for Kafka (MSK) team is seeking engineers passionate about data streaming and open source. This role involves contributing to the MSK service, which simplifies the use of Apache Kafka for processing streaming data. Candidates will work on the entire stack, including APIs, workflows, and core Kafka platform enhancements. The position offers a unique opportunity to bridge open source and Amazon-internal software while delivering exceptional customer experiences.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Design and build new features for the Amazon MSK service
• Make performance improvements to the Kafka platform
• Identify and investigate new technologies for data streaming
• Prototype solutions and build scalable services
• Test and review changes to ensure high-quality deliverables
• Collaborate with other engineers to define the team's roadmap
