Job description

As a CPU Core Design Verification Engineer at AMD, you will verify new and existing microarchitectural features in next-generation x86 CPU cores. You will work in a C++ and Verilog/SystemVerilog-based environment, independently owning a portion of the verification effort. The role emphasizes collaboration with RTL designers, architects, and fellow verification engineers to ensure accurate implementation and validation of microarchitectural intent. Success in this position requires a strong foundation in computer architecture and a proactive approach to quality and timeliness.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in computer architecture and processor microarchitecture
  • Experience using C++ and SystemVerilog for developing verification infrastructure
  • Good understanding of digital logic design and RTL design concepts using Verilog
  • Familiarity with constrained-random testing and coverage-driven verification
  • Understanding of assembly-level programming and instruction execution at the ISA level
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer engineering or Electrical Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with RTL designers, architects, and verification engineers to understand microarchitectural features and verification requirements.
  • Own the test plan, stimulus, checking, and functional coverage for an assigned portion of unit- or core-level verification.
  • Design, implement, and maintain C++-based and SystemVerilog-based testbench components.
  • Write and maintain SystemVerilog assertions and functional coverage models.
  • Debug simulation failures and drive root-cause analysis.
  • Drive functional and code coverage closure for your area and identify verification gaps.
  • Apply AI-assisted and agent-based development tools to improve verification productivity.

Benefits

  • AMD provides a competitive 'Total Rewards' package that focuses on financial growth, health, and work-life balance.
