Job description
As an AI Data Platform Engineer on the Manufacturing Systems and Infrastructure (MSI) team at Apple, you will be responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable AI data platforms that support various AI solutions. The MSI team focuses on developing systems tools and applications to enhance manufacturing operations globally. You will work on transforming fragmented data into trusted, AI-ready datasets while collaborating with AI/ML engineers and product teams. This role emphasizes innovation in AI data engineering and lifecycle management to accelerate AI initiatives across the enterprise.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience designing and building scalable data platforms and distributed systems.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with proficiency in Java or Scala preferred.
- Experience with Airflow, Kubeflow, or MLflow to build and orchestrate scalable AI data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with AI data engineering, including ground truth dataset creation and data curation.
- Knowledge of RAG architectures, embedding generation, and vector databases.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable AI data platforms, services, and APIs.
- Develop data ingestion, transformation, and publishing pipelines for various data types.
- Build AI-ready datasets through ground truth creation and metadata management.
- Develop data quality frameworks and validation pipelines to ensure trusted AI datasets.
- Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and metadata services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define AI data requirements.
- Optimize platform scalability, reliability, performance, and security.
- Drive engineering best practices for AI data architecture and operational excellence.
